The Benefits of Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

1) Anti-Inflammation: Laser therapy has an anti-inflammatory effect because of its vasodilation and it triggers the lymphatic drainage system.

2) Analgesic: Laser therapy is beneficial on nerve cells which block pain and decreases nerve sensitivity. Also, since there is less swelling, there is less edema and less pain.

3) Accelerated Tissue Repair and Cell Growth: Photons of light access deep tissue layers and accelerate cellular reproduction and growth because it increases the energy available to the cell, allowing it to take in nutrients and get rid of waste quicker.

4) Improved Vascular Activity: Laser light dramatically increases the formation of new capillaries in damaged tissue which speeds healing, closes wounds quicker, and lessens scar tissue.

5) Increased Metabolic Activity: Treatment creates an increased output of certain enzymes, increasing oxygen and food particles for blood cells.

6) Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points: Treatments activates muscle trigger and acupuncture points without being invasive to provide pain relief.

7) Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation: Treatment reduces the development of scar tissue after damage from cuts, scratches, burns, or surgery.

8) Improved Nerve Function: Laser light speeds the process of axonal regeneration, nerve cell reconnection, and more to help with numbness and impaired limb function.

9) Immuno-regulation: Laser light stimulates immunoglobulins and lymphocytes and when the light is absorbed by chromophores, molecule enzymes, the enzyme flavomono-nucleotide is activated. This produces ATP (adenosine-tri-phosphate) which is the major carrier of cell energy and the source of energy for all chemical reactions within cells.

10) Faster Wound Healing: Treatment stimulates fibroblast development. Fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen, predominant in healing wounds. Collagen is the key protein needed to replace old tissue and to repair tissue injury.

What Makes the OptonPro Laser Superior for Therapy?

Laser therapy has become popular among chiropractors and others who specialize in providing pain relief without the use of drugs or surgery. This is because it can stimulate healing in the treated tissues; and with healing, pain is reduced or eliminated. But not all therapeutic lasers are created equal. Some outdated lasers cannot effectively penetrate into the deeper levels of tissue. The advance OptonPro laser solves this issue by being strong enough to reach deep tissue targets while remaining mild enough to avoid cutting or burning the patient.

What is the OptonPro Laser and What Makes it Different?

The OptonPro is a strong non-surgical laser that is meant for deep tissue therapy. It offers practitioners two wavelengths to choose from, and this allows users to select the best treatment for each patient. Alternatively, a patient may receive therapy that includes some of each. From the patient's perspective, this means that it can produce both pain-relieving effects and accelerated healing.

Pain relief, surprisingly enough, is typically brought about with minimal penetration of skin tissue. Therefore, the wavelength with the lower penetration capability is used for this purpose. Then, the high-penetration wavelength is used to stimulate tissue regeneration, improve circulation, and boost healing within the injured area. Most patients will likely receive at least some of each type of laser treatment in order to bring about fast relief as the healing process takes place. Athletes, or anyone who has sustained a joint injury, can benefit from this therapy.

What Patients Can Expect During a Treatment

Receiving an OptonPro treatment is easy – all the patient has to do is sit in a chair or lay on a procedure table. The position used depends on the part of the body that requires treatment. The doctor then runs the flexible head of the OptonPro over the painful or injured area. Patients may experience a bit of warmth during treatment, but that's it.

What Can be Done with Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is good for a wide variety of uses. It can be used to treat injured areas, to stimulate points traditionally targeted by acupuncture, activate muscle trigger points, stimulate nerve growth to combat numbness, help reduce the formation of scar tissue, and more. According to Dr. Mark F. Herman, our chiropractic physician, some of the specific conditions commonly treated include tennis elbow, back pain, knee pain, and shoulder pain. It can also help with TMJ, trigger finger, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and several other conditions.

Testimonial

I definitely recommend Dr. Herman since, besides being good at what he does, he reminds me of the good old days… when doctors actually cared about each individual patient!
