As human beings we are always evolving and hopefully becoming newer and improved versions of our former selves. Think about it…….are you the same person that you were when you were 5 years old, 15 or even 25?
On my personal journey I have strived to become the best version of myself. That has required reading many books on self-help and motivation. Continuing education in my chosen field of Chiropractic on how to do what I do best and most importantly learning from the experiences that life has presented to me along the way.
One thing that is certain is that nothing in life remains the same. We are always in a state of flux. Whether you welcome it or not it is going to happen to everyone. You will finish school and enter the job market landing your first job. You may eventually be forced out of your current job, only to find a better one later on. You may also meet that perfect partner to start a family and share life with only to eventually grow apart and become divorced after many years of marriage.
With relation to your health, knowledge can also be helpful in achieving better health even as we age. I personally have learned a great deal about diet and nutrition in recent years which helped me maintain a healthy weight, have lots of energy and kept me well and most importantly off of prescription medication. In addition, some of the exercises that we used to do when we were younger may have to be changed and modified as we age. For example, jogging over many years can result in damage to the cartilage of the hips and knees. Changing your routine to an elliptical machine instead can be helpful.
In closing, change is inevitable so you might as well embrace it and work with the current rather than go against it. It is always best to create the change rather than making life do it for you. If you are not happy with where you are in life, whether it be your current job, health situation or even relationship. Be in the driver’s seat and make the change. Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to fail. You might find that if you listen to your inner voice, you will always make the right decision.
